Who we are
This website is operated by [OPERATOR NAME], [OPERATOR ADDRESS], company ID (IČO) [OPERATOR IČO] ("we"). We are the controller of the personal data described below. Contact: [OPERATOR CONTACT EMAIL].
What we collect and why
We collect as little personal data as possible.
When you suggest a provider or suggest an edit
- Your email address — to confirm the contribution is genuine, to contact you if a moderator has a question, and to prevent abuse.
- Your name, if you choose to give one.
- What you write — seen only by moderators, except for the business details that are published on the listing.
- A keyed hash of your IP address — to detect spam and repeated submissions. We do not store your IP address itself.
When you answer "Did they speak English with you?"
- Your answer (yes or no) and, if you write one, your comment and the name you choose — both are published once a moderator has approved the comment. We do not ask for your email address.
- A keyed hash of your IP address and a random identifier stored in a cookie in your browser — so that each browser and connection can answer only once per business. We do not store your IP address itself.
When you contact us or report a problem
Your message, and your name and email address if you provide them, so we can respond.
Information about businesses
We publish publicly available business information about service providers. Where a provider is a self-employed individual, some of this information may be personal data. You can ask us to correct or remove it — see Your rights below.
Legal basis
We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a reliable, moderated directory, preventing spam and abuse, and responding to messages. When you contact us, we process your data to respond to your request.
We use Google Analytics only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 89(3) of the Czech Electronic Communications Act). You can withdraw consent at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; this does not affect processing before you withdrew it.
How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Unconfirmed submissions | Deleted after 7 days |
| Rejected submissions, and the text of rejected comments | Deleted after 90 days |
| Answers removed by a moderator | Deleted after 90 days |
| Email address of someone who suggested a listing | Deleted 90 days after a moderator's decision |
| Contact messages and closed reports | Deleted after 12 months |
| IP address hashes | Deleted after 30 days |
| Your cookie choice (stored in your browser) | 12 months, then we ask again |
| Google Analytics data (only if you accepted) | [OPERATOR: retention period set in Google Analytics → Admin → Data retention, e.g. 14 months] |
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We use service providers who process data on our behalf: [OPERATOR: hosting provider] (website hosting) and [OPERATOR: email provider] (sending confirmation emails). If you accept analytics cookies, Google Ireland Limited processes usage data for us through Google Analytics (see Cookies and analytics). [OPERATOR: state whether any other data is transferred outside the EU/EEA and the safeguards used.]
Cookies and analytics
Strictly necessary
Some cookies are needed for the site to work, and don't need your consent — for example to protect forms against misuse. When you answer "Did they speak English with you?", we set a cookie with a random identifier, kept for up to 2 years, so the same browser cannot answer twice for one business. We also remember your cookie choice in your browser's storage for 12 months.
Anonymous counts
We count page views and clicks (for example on phone numbers) as anonymous daily totals, without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you.
Google Analytics — only if you accept
If you choose Accept analytics in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand how the site is used — for example which pages are visited, how people find the site and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics then sets these cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes visitors | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Keeps the state of a visit | 2 years |
We don't use Google Analytics for advertising: advertising and ad personalisation signals are switched off. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses for visitors in the EU. [OPERATOR: confirm that Google signals and data sharing settings are off in Google Analytics.] Google may process this data outside the EU, including in the United States; such transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
If you choose Reject, or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing consent stops Google Analytics and deletes its cookies from this site.
We do not use advertising cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email [OPERATOR CONTACT EMAIL] from the address you used, or tell us which address it was. We respond within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Czech data protection authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
